Comfort International

In 1999 Callum Henderson visited Rwanda for the first time and with the involvement of his local church, he set up Comfort Rwanda, the name coming from Isaiah chapter 40 verse 1.

In 2017 the name changed to Comfort International as work expanded and now there are local partners in five Central African countries, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, South Sudan and Uganda. The vision is to restore wholeness, purpose and unity in people and communities by bringing lasting transformation to those lives and communities which have been devastated by poverty, genocide and conflict. Ensuring people can become self-sufficient long after help is given is a main objective.

A new partnership in Sierra Leone has just begun bringing the total to six countries.

Their work includes:

  • Providing healthcare and hospital facilities in DR Congo.
  • Identifying and rescuing street kids and giving them a loving home.
  • Facilitating healing and reconciliation in post-genocide and conflict communities.
  • Supporting vulnerable mums and their babies.
  • Providing education, training and help to start a business.
  • Rehabilitating ex-child soldiers.
  • Providing church leadership training.
