Small groups

Making Big Church Small.

Why Small Groups?

Small groups are at the heart of our church family. They’re where we get to grow in our faith, care for one another, and encourage each other to live as disciples of Jesus in our day-to-day lives.

Here’s what happens in a Small Group:

  • We grow together by opening God’s Word, learning from it, and praying for one another.

  • We care for each other by sharing life—the highs and the lows—and committing to walk alongside one another.

  • We send one another out, encouraged to keep following Jesus and showing His love wherever we go.

Small groups also give us some really practical tools to help us read and understand God’s Word so it can shape us from the inside out.

So far in Luke, we have seen the glory of Jesus revealed as we have discovered more about his identity, his mission, and his call. In this session, we will walk with Jesus as he prepares his disciples for what is about to happen in Jerusalem.

But while they were all marvelling at everything he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.” But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.Luke 9:43–45

Before the session, we would love you to watch a couple of short videos to help set the scene. You will also find a copy of the postcards we will be using. If you would prefer a printed copy, these are available at church or from your small group leader. Simply click on the postcards to open them.
