Our Priorities
Making, Growing, Caring for and Sending Disciples
Four priorities shape our life together and help us focus on what matters most.
Making Disciples
Helping people discover Jesus.
We want people of every age and background to have opportunities to hear the good news of Jesus, explore Christian faith and respond to his invitation to follow him.
Through worship, friendship and engagement with our community, we seek to make Jesus known.
Growing Disciples
Knowing Jesus more deeply and becoming more like him.
Following Jesus is a lifelong journey of discovering more of his love, grace and goodness.
Through Scripture, prayer, worship and fellowship, we seek to deepen our relationship with God, grow in our delight in him and become more like Jesus.
Caring for Disciples
Reflecting the love of Jesus.
Because Christ has loved us, we seek to love one another.
We want to be a community where people are known, valued, encouraged and supported through life’s joys and challenges, extending that same care and compassion to our wider community.
Sending Disciples
Sharing Jesus wherever God places us.
Following Jesus doesn’t stop at the church door.
We seek to encourage and equip people to live out their faith in their homes, workplaces, schools and communities.
Through our mission partners, we also share in God’s work beyond our local area.
Our Values
What Shapes the Way We Live and Serve
Our life together is rooted in the grace and love of God.
We believe that God the Father has loved us and called us to himself, God the Son has brought us forgiveness and new life through his death and resurrection, and God the Holy Spirit is at work within us, transforming and equipping us to follow Jesus.
Everything we seek to be and do flows from our relationship with the living God.
As we pursue our vision, we want to be marked by these values.
Faithfulness to God’s Word
We believe the Bible is God’s Word, revealing his character, his purposes and the good news of Jesus Christ.
We seek to allow Scripture to shape what we believe, how we worship and the way we live.
Dependence on the Holy Spirit
We recognise that we cannot fulfil God’s calling in our own strength.
We depend on the Holy Spirit to draw people to Jesus, transform us into his likeness, equip us for service and empower us to share his good news.
A Life of Prayer
Prayer is essential to our relationship with God and the life and mission of the church.
We seek to be people who draw near to God in prayer, trust his promises and depend on his wisdom and strength.
Grace and Welcome
Because God has welcomed us through Jesus Christ, we seek to welcome others with warmth, kindness and grace, whatever their background or experience of faith.
Love and Service
Jesus has shown us what love looks like, most fully through his sacrificial death for us.
We seek to reflect his love through practical care, generosity and service to one another and our wider community.
Courageous Faith
Trusting God’s promises and relying on his Spirit, we want to be willing to listen, learn and respond courageously to new opportunities to share Jesus with our changing community and beyond.
Looking Forward Together
Living in His Grace, Sharing His Love
Our greatest hope for Chryston Parish Church is not simply that we will do more, reach more people or develop more activities.
It is that we will grow in our knowledge and love of God, delight more deeply in his grace and reflect more of Jesus Christ in our life together.
As we experience his grace, we want that grace to overflow into our worship, relationships, service and witness.
We look to the future trusting not in our own strength, but in the God who has loved us, saved us and continues to work in us by his Spirit.
Our desire is to glorify God, enjoy him forever and help others discover the joy of knowing Jesus.
To God be the glory, in the church and in Christ Jesus, throughout all generations.
